Acaster Lloyd: Building a Confident Start to Net Zero
Acaster and Lloyd Consultancy was founded in 2016 by Sarah Acaster and Andrew Lloyd. Acaster Lloyd Consulting represents both their scientific research interests and shared goals: good science and bespoke consultancy to deliver what clients need, from the creative to the pragmatic.
They provide insights for their clients through COA research and consultancy. With the aim of contributing to the academic debate within our community. The team is active in several academic and industry organisations, such as ISPOR, the EuroQol Group and ISOQOL. In addition to conducting research studies and consultancy for their clients, they are involved in teaching, journal editing and reviewing. They approached Carbon Neutral Group for help on their carbon footprint but were not sure of where they needed to start and what they needed to do.
The Challenge: Getting Started on the Net Zero Journey
Acaster Lloyd was looking to start their journey to Net Zero. They approached Carbon Neutral Group to help and understand where to start and what they needed to do. The team wanted to start their Net Zero journey for its own purposes and needs however they also mentioned that as they are working with clients and suppliers, they are being asked for a Carbon Report.
By working with Carbon Neutral Group, we could take them on their journey from where they are today, to understanding what data is needed to help with the calculations and produce their first carbon report. From this report, we can then look to help them set realistic goals, help with a sustainability plan, a carbon reduction plan and when they are ready, setting a goal for being carbon neutral.
The Solution: Carbon Reporting with Clarity and Confidence
The team at Acaster Lloyd wanted a carbon report and a clear understanding of their carbon footprint as well as a report that they could confidently send to their clients as the requests came through.

The Results: From Uncertainty to Action
Acaster Lloyd’s main result from working with Carbon Neutral Group was that they received an accurate carbon footprint report that they could use internally and share with third parties.
The report has given the team a good understanding of their footprint and has encouraged team members to change behaviours and look more into their carbon journey. Now this is understood, they are now looking at developing a clear Carbon Reduction Plan and broadcast their wider green work in a Sustainability Plan.
